goal & play

goal

Assemble four complete king-to-ace runs, each in a single suit. Played with one deck, 52 cards.

Seven piles in steps: the leftmost holds one card, the next two, and so on up to seven in the last; only the top card of each is face up, and 24 cards stay in the stock. A card may be placed on any card one rank higher, and the suit does not matter: an eight goes on a red nine just as well as on a black one. A GROUP, however, only moves if it is already a single-suit descending run — the top part of a longer such run will do; an empty pile takes any card or any such group. A face-down card turns over by itself once it becomes the top one. A finished king-to-ace run goes to a foundation in one move, and only whole; the game menu also carries an auto-drop that does it for you.

nuances

The stock deals seven cards three times, and the fourth time only three — onto the three leftmost piles; no deal is allowed while a pile stands empty. A card on a foundation never comes back.

tactics

Dig into the right-hand piles first: most of the face-down cards lie under their tops.
